Menopause
Around 1,600,000 women every year enter the
transition we call menopause. This is a natural physiological process,
usually occurring any time after the age of 40 but normally between
the ages of 45 and 55. The menopause signifies the end of fertility
and menstruation and can cause many distressing physical and emotional
problems for women such as:
Hot flushes and/or sweating
Night sweats
Mood Swings
Irregularities in sleep
Weight gain
Thinning hair
Irregular menstrual bleeding
Vaginal dryness and/or itching
Loss of libido
It is important to remember that as upsetting and annoying as these
symptoms are - it is not an illness, merely a natural transition and
is nothing to be frightened or embarrassed about.
